Is it a wagger, or a wager?

Pastor Myron tells a story of a woman who went to her counselor, frustrated over the lack of attention her husband was giving her.

She complained:

"He doesn't pay any attention to me!  When he gets home from work, the first thing he does ...is take that dog of his for a walk!"

The counselor nods:

"Yes, I've seen that many times."

Desperately, she asks:

"What can be done about it?"

The counselor hesitates:

"Well, if you'd jump up and down ...and wag your tail, as soon as he comes in the door, he'd probably take you for a walk too."

Some spouses complain because they feel they are "treated like a dog" ...well, in this case it offered some reasonable advice.

And it's not the size of the tail, it's the exuberance with which it is wagged.   Our boxer does not have much of a tail, but it rivals a hummingbird's wings with its rapid back-and-forth ...usually when it's on all fours.

But wagging is not always positive.

Wagging is different than waving.  It's polite and proper to wave, but it's not proper to wag at everyone.  Your spouse should not be given secondary importance.

Which brings us to the purposely diverting attention ...which could apply to affairs, or even the affairs of a nation.

Which was the case in a movie by this title ...making a situation seem like something that it is not.

You see the tail wagging and assume the dog is wagging it.

As the saying goes:

Why does the dog wag its tail?

Because the dog is smarter than the tail.

If the tail were smarter, it would wag the dog.

I hope the tale of hope and change is not smarter than you ...as it is working to change our Constitution, our faith beliefs, our morality (if you feel that is different or non-related to faith ...I do not), and our integrity as a nation.

I hope we are not going to change the things that I hope we still believe in ...not of our own conceited rationalizations, but through God's wisdom should we strive to remain blessed.

Otherwise, we will be the butt of other nations.

Life can seem like a bad dream ...it is not!             But we still need to wake up!
